2020 / found footage video / 7 min ( ⬆ this is an excerpt from the original video)

This film explores the relationship between humans and the environment through the hundreds of “relaxing sounds” videos available on youtube. Most of these videos use an idyllic and stereotyped concept of nature related to purity, harmony and peace. In them, landscapes are still staged and framed as classical painters did in their studios centuries ago. However, nature is not alone in this task, youtube also recommends us the repetitive sounds of machines and their shiny, symmetrical and productive imaginaries. This way, through a youtube-kind of narrative based on algorithms and recommendations, I proposed a story that overlaps these apparently opposite images and sounds to question the binary lens (ideology) we use for seeing and understanding the world. The film aims to deconstruct this lens and understand concepts like stress, anxiety and burnout as a consequence of our toxic relationship with our ecosystem. A consequence we both humans and nature suffer.
